Kalasin is changing so quickly. I remember coming here 12 years ago and I now see so many improvements. There are only very few gated communities in Kalasin. There is one near Lotus's but its on the main road. The other one is old and dated. Pruek Pirom is the best as the houses are of strong construction, quiet safe and very near the city centre. The local park with lake, restaurants, bars in 5 minutes away. All the neighbours are friendly and there is a pool / spa at the entrance. I don't think you will find a house with such good construction for the price anywhere in Thailand. Kalasin is a good place to live or retire as income goes a long way, Food, transport, housings costs, electricity and water are all very affordable. For example, the service charge for Preuk Pirom is 200 baht per month !! I do not know anywhere cheaper in Thailand. If you are looking for an affordable, safe and great place to live for you and family in a great neighbourhood close to everything Preuk Pirom Kalasin. ITS THE BEST

I was lucky as this house was 5 minutes walk to my school where I taught English and was so convenient for shops, restaurants, hospital, bus station and park with big lake. This is a community village and houses all the professionals such as bankers, policeman, professor etc. They are so friendly with amazing street parties. Nice garden to have bbq and there is also a pool / sauna / massage a few seconds walk. Loved it all especially walking by the nearby river and stopping for some great Thai food and a glass of chilled wine at weekends.
