1. 20 cm thick insulating low thermal mass 'bricks' (90 baht each) whereas others use 7.5 cm wide cheap concrete blocks (9 baht each). 
2. A 'real' roof, not just a flat, single-angle 'shed' roof (lower surface area). We provide a hip roof, as they function better and keep heat away from the interior. 
3. Real roof tiles that are both long-lasting and UV reflective. We reflect as much UV (heat) as possible before even having to deal with it via insulation.
4. Wide opening front of the house using bi-fold and large sliding terrace doors. The front of the house opens almost completely. By opening the side and even the bedroom windows it will create a through draft, another tropical best practice. 
5. Plenty of space, both inside and out. Neighbours here are NOT at the minimum legal distance away as many others you will see here on Phangan.
